Potty Tots: Touchdown!
Posted by Amy on September 21, 2008

Every parent goes through potty training, in some form or another. Some kids just make it easy on their parents and show the desire to go at a young age. Some know what the deal is and just push back for as long as they can. In our family, the mind games and bribes don’t really work. She’s going to go when she’s good and ready and it’s not going to matter what we do to get her to that point. Although, until we get to that point, we do whatever we can to “ease” her in and to feel like we’re being “proactive”.
Cue the Potty Tots. These little animated kids are fun and cute and super informative. It makes me happy when Hailey asks to watch her Potty Tots DVD and then proceeds to sing along with the songs. I sit and hope that something is clicking inside of that pretty little head when she watches.
What we (the parents) like about this product is that it comes with the tools to engage your child and successfully get them on track to a diaper-free world. The more they understand the process, the easier the transition.
There are two Potty Tots kits; one for girls and one for boys. The kits both contain a DVD, book, potty chart for the bathroom and “Toilet Bowl” progress chart. Hey, just in time for football season!
We’re giving away one kit of your choice to a ParentSphere reader. To enter - you guessed it - we want POTTY TRAINING stories! Give us what you’ve got. We want advice, stories, what you “think” works and what you’ve tried that does or doesn’t work.  Last day to enter is Tuesday, September 30th. Winner will be chosen randomly and emailed the following day (check your spam!) This post will be updated with the winner. Fill out the giveaway form below to enter.

The best thing hat has worked for my kids is just letting them decide when they are ready. It’s more work for me if I push them. I worked for months with my son and while he did get potty trained, he also would up with like a hundred matchbox cars. My daughter did so much better because I waited until she gave me the signs that she was ready. Now we are on #3 and just about to start the process again.

My daughter will let me know once the deed is done, not when she is ready to go. She will hide in a corner and then announce “Pee”. I agree with others, you can’t hurry the kid. Just be attentive.

Well, my oldest is 10 and with her I waited till she was ready, we started potty training when she was 2.5 and only had 1 accident. My son, who’s now 6, was a whole different story. We started potty training when he was 3 and man, it took a long time and he had loads of accidents. What they say of boys are harder to potty train surely is correct. We have a 3rd, a little girl, but she’s only 15 months so we have a while to go. Again with her I’ll wait till she lets me know when she’s ready. For all parents, just have lots of patience, be understanding, but keep a routine, or a schedule.
Thanks for the great giveaway!

Silly as it may seem, you potty train the doll. The doll is a great teaching tool, it should not be seen as a toy. You will be using the doll to model correct behavior.

For some reason my daughter is against using the potty. This morning she cried and fought to get off, then squatted right next to it and used the floor instead. Potty training is not fun.
